Recovery Steps Cumbria is the alcohol and drug service for adults across Cumbria.
Information on our support offer (last updated 12 December 2025)
We are currently experiencing staffing pressures in Barrow-in-Furness, Whitehaven, Workington and Kendal.
Because of this, we’ve introduced a temporary plan to make sure:
- everyone currently engaging with our service continues to receive the treatment and support they need.
- referrals being made to us for people who are most at risk of harm are seen as a priority.
We expect this plan to last until mid-February 2026 but will update this notice when we have new information.
This plan doesn’t affect our Carlisle or Penrith hubs, which will continue to operate as normal.
If you are currently being supported by us, please speak to your keyworker about our provisions during the festive period.
