Recovery Steps Cumbria is the alcohol and drug service for adults across Cumbria.
Information on our support offer (update as of 3 March 2026)
We are pleased to confirm that from 16 March 2026, normal service will resume in our Workington and Whitehaven hubs.
Business Continuity Plan (BCP) clinics will still be open for the people who need us while our team members prepare for 16 March.
Our Barrow-in-Furness and Kendal hubs will still be working under their Business Continuity Plans for the time being, but we are aiming to bring similar positive news in these areas soon.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Information on our support offer (update as of 12 December 2025)
We are currently experiencing staffing pressures in Barrow-in-Furness, Whitehaven, Workington and Kendal.
Because of this, we’ve introduced a temporary plan to make sure:
- everyone currently engaging with our service continues to receive the treatment and support they need.
- referrals being made to us for people who are most at risk of harm are seen as a priority.
We expect this plan to last until mid-February 2026 but will update this notice when we have new information.
This plan doesn’t affect our Carlisle or Penrith hubs, which will continue to operate as normal.
